We are Neal & Mary Pruett, owners of Magic Beans LLc specializing in Air roasting coffee beans. We are often asked, How did you get in the coffee business?" Here's a little history...
"The search for "the BEST cup of Coffee" led my father, Macleod Fitzgerald, to Oregon and to a man named "Mr. Coffee" a.k.a. Mike Sivetz. Dad learned a method of coffee roasting using a fluid-bed roaster, which operates much like a hot-air popcorn popper. In 2001,dad returned to Pfafftown, NC with one of Sivetz's legendary Fluid Bed Coffee Roasters and began roasting coffee in small batches under the name Raven Cafe. Now, the coffee roasting torch has been passed to us and we operate as Magic Beans LLc established in 2014..however, the Raven lingers... In addition to roasting coffee, we also make a coffee concentrate called Essence. The essence is specially brewed from a hot extraction process that produces a concentrate which can be added to hot water for a quick cup of coffee but also works well in such desserts as tiramisu and chocolate cake.
